FAQs:
What is the Japanese Hair Straightening Treatment (JHST)?
Japanese hair straightening is a chemical process that completely restructures the hair bonds and takes any textures such as curly, wavy, and frizzy hair to permanent pin-straight flat hair that will stay straight until the hair is grown out.
Why JHST from Agave Retex?
Agave Retex is not just another hair treatment—it's a game-changer. Developed by the internationally renowned hairstylist Fernando Romero, the mastermind behind Bio Ionic and Agave Products, this 2-step system works wonders by permanently straightening the hair cuticle. By breaking bonds in the cortex, Agave Retex transforms your hair from unmanageable and frizzy to sleek and shiny, giving you smooth, stick-straight hair without blowdrying or hot tools.
How much time does it take?
Time is determined on an individual basis depending on hair length, type, and texture. Service time for Agave Retex can take up to 4 hours, so be prepared to indulge in a little self-care and relaxation during your appointment.
What results can be expected?
The hair will be more manageable and take much less time to style. It will be noticeably softer and smoother with no frizz. You should see added life and shine as well as a lengthened look.
Can the treatment be done on chemically treated hair, or hair that has been straightened or relaxed?
Yes, but you must wait at least 2 weeks before using JHST. For blondes, highlighted, or damaged hair, we recommend a consultation with a stylist.
How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?
You must wait 3 days before washing your hair or swimming to allow the product to fully set and deliver optimal results.
Can the hair be pulled back or clipped during the 3 day waiting period?
No. The hair should not have any impressions made by using bands or clips.
What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 3 day waiting period?
Blow the hair dry and then flat iron.
What kind of after care is recommended?
We highly recommend sulfate-free professional shampoos and conditioners from Leaf & Flower, Formula18, or Aluram. Avoid products with alcohol, and stay away from hot-styling tools, if possible.
Is the re-application of JHST done on the entire head or just on new growth?
The re-application only needs to be done on new growth.
How long will the treatment last?
The treatment lasts about 4-6 months, depending on hair type and texture, and whether the client follows all the after care instructions.
Can the treatment be done on pregnant or nursing women?
Yes.
Can the treatment be done on children?
Yes! With great results and parental consent.
What is the cost?
Starts at $300.
